Now playable on iPhone & iPad! - v1.0.2, Discord & more
Web version and demo v1.0.2
A web version of Orange Smash is now available on itch.io (since Friday), which can be played directly in the browser!
With this, now there’s finally a way for iPhone & iPad users to enjoy the visual novel 😊
With the release of the of the web version, another small quality update was also applied to all versions.
Changelog for v1.0.2 of the demo:
- Optimized in-game menu buttons for Android devices:
- For the Android version, the in-game menu buttons are now easier to press on smaller devices. They are now a larger, have more spacing, and are placed beside the dialogue box instead of below it.
- Some GUI elements have a custom orange-themed design now rather than the RenPy default. These are:
- Choice buttons
- Skipping indicator
- Notifications (e.g., when performing a quick save)
- Yes-No boxes (e.g., when you quit the game, overwrite a save file, etc.)
- Social media buttons on the title screen
- Since with the web version, the possibility to host the game on platforms other than itch.io also opens up (for example, on steamygamer.com), having links to the itch page, the subreddit, etc. in the game itself made sense
- Some minor visual & code optimizations
Why are the file sizes for v1.0.2 smaller than for v1.0.1?!
This is simple: For v1.0.1, I forgot to exclude a folder with images that do not appear in the story yet 🫢
So in v1.0.2, the folder is now excluded.
It only contained some background images of the forest though, so it wasn’t even anything interesting 😅

News on new continuous update model
As mentioned last week, my plan is to shift to a continuous update model, where I will be releasing the visual novel in small updates, instead of dumping the whole final thing at once after months.
Every update will include at least either one hentai scene, or will significantly progress the story, so that playing the new update will be worth it! ☺️
Versioning convention from now on
With the new release system, the versioning convention will also change slightly:
First number | Major milestone versions, like the full release |
Second number | Versions with a story / content update, including new scenes |
Third number | Minor changes and bug fixes |
Version 1.0.2 for the demo would then be version 0.1.2 according to the new convention, and the first actual release in this model will then be v0.2.0.
As mentioned last week, this new version 0.2.0 would then first release as an early access for my Patreon subscribers, and then, about a week later, release publicly on itch.io.
TL;DR:
If the 1st or 2nd number of the game version changes, then new scenes were added to the game! Look forward to those! :)
Thanks to all supporters!
I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who is supporting this project, both on itch.io and on Patreon! ☺️
Your positive words and actions make me really happy and add a lot to my motivation! I'm really grateful for your support! :)
Plans for next week
This week, I mostly worked on the scenes that come directly after where the demo ended ✨
Next week, I want to get v0.2.0 done and have it released on Patreon by end of next week (public release in two weeks) ✨
Look forward to the new version! 😊
